Religious rock and roll is like the frog and the water. The term "rock and
roll" means fornication. It is a street name for sexual immorality. It has
wrecked the lives of many teenagers through suicide, drug abuse,
immorality, perversion, satanism, etc. Sadly, we live in a day where many
Christians and church leaders are allowing this demonic music into their
churches, claiming that the music is holy and sanctified because the
lyrics are changed to include some 'religious' words. Where is the
discernment in the church? Are Christians losing their ability to discern
the difference between good and evil? The fact that this demonic music
even made it into the church is proof of the moral and spiritual decline
affecting the church today. We are being invaded by hard rock, acid rock,
punk rock, new wave, and heavy metal music under the guise of religious
rock and roll....

I like a good hymn as well as anyone (see my website at www.songbookz.com),
but the fact of the matter is that many hymns were alternate lyrics written
to popular songs of the day (I forget which one John Wesley or Martin Luther
actually encouraged the writing of alternative lyrics to pop music so that
people coming into the church would be familiar with the tunes - a practice
made impossible under current copyright laws).

The problem is is idiots like this who try to religicize customs. The fact
that hymns written in 4-part harmony were popular for a long time does not
make them any better or worse than other styles of music dedicated to the
glory of God. Certainly I object to the rise of Christian Music Idols as
much as I object to Gospel Idols, Southern Gospel Idols, etc., or whenever
the artist comes to the fore and God is pushed back, but when God is
glorified, praised and worshipped in hymns, Christian rock, Christian
Country, even Christian Rap, God is still glorified.

Of course, if one wanted to be strictly pure scripturally, then Christian
music would only be sung to a stringed instrument since both the Hebrew
words and the Greek words for "sing" and "song" come from root words meaning
"to pluck." In other words, the marriage between stringed instruments and
singing was so complete in Biblical times that the very word "to sing" meant
"to pluck a stringed instrument."

And the context of that passage is:

John 8:30-32 KJV
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The promise was to those who believed on him, that continued in his
word as disciples. The promise is for disciples; not the unlearned or
babes in Christ. If you teach them how to become disciples; you won't
have to teach them about sin because they will know what it is and how
to overcome it. Preaching sin produces sin. Preach Christ brings
deliverance and rewards. Don't give a man a fish when you can teach
him how to fish.

Jesus said, Mark 3:23-24 How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a
kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Jesus said
this because.. Mark 3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem
said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out
devils.
Jesus was showing that HE had God in Him and was doing good.

So ask this... Do people get saved listen to Contemporary Christian Music?
Christians that listen to this music, can they get in a state of Praise and
Worship? A person feeling down/blue/depressed, can they listen to
Contemporary Christian Music and get in the Spirit and start feeling
Joy/Grateful/Light? Has there ever been a change for the good in a person
life after they switched their listening preferences from Secular to
Contemporary Christian Music?
I know I can say "YES" to "ALL" of these and I know personally many,
many others that also can. 1 Corinthians 12:3 "Therefore I tell you that no
one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one
can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit." Please quit looking
for satan under every rock and behind every tree. I am a very Spirit Child
of God! When I was saved in my mid 20's, I was having trouble changing
certain things in my life. A friend asked me what kind of music I was
listening to. When I told him, he said I needed to change my music, that
was why I was having trouble. I told him I hate "that" kinda music. He
told me about Contemporary Christian Music and that there was a good local
station. I change my station and within a few months several things in my
life fell away. I was no longer listening to music that worshiped things of
this world. I was listen to positive things about God, Life and Love. As
Jesus said... "Mark 3:23 How can Satan cast out Satan?" I have not seen any
where at all, where satan has benefited from any Christian Music.
I Praise God that there is all diverse styles of music given over for
the Glory of GOD. There is no reason for anyone not to listen to Christian
Music. What ever style of music you like (Country, Rock, Soul, Rap,
Reggae<~~ BTW is kinda cool) you have no excuse to not listen to God's
music!
