Anyone have an idea what

"Why wait, why wait
Why wait for You to Usher Me Down"

in Jennifer Knapp's "Usher Me Down" means?

==================

my guess is, she is referring to how we often wait around on god to part
the sea for us, as if we don't know what we should do.

many churches have "ushers" that lead you to the seats, etc.

by "down", she may be referring to a spiritual brokenness or repentant
heart. (often symbolized by going "down to an altar".)

Maybe it is coming down to the altar to repent...
Not waiting to be ushered or asked down... coming of one's own volition.
